We are looking for master naturalists who are interested in presenting educational programs this spring/summer/fall for children, adults and families at the nature center. We are located inside the Lapham Peak Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest on Hwy C in Delafield, WI. We are open two weekends per month April through October. Specific dates for presentations will be agreed upon with individual presenters. Typically programs are one to two hours in length depending on the topic, type of presentation and audience. Most people present once a season but some opt to present multiple times.

At the Havenwoods State Forest, help establish native species in our Naturalist Backyard area, our Rain Garden area, and throughout the forest. Work and learn along with forest staff or independently and make a big impact on restoring this forest. There are several different volunteer opportunities available to assist with, please feel free to join and reach out to learn more and we would be happy to have you and help you reach your goals! Looking for around 4 hours per week but can be adjusted.

Opportunities at Hank Aaron State Trail involve removing invasive species from our native prairie beds and giving the chance for the natives to take control. You can also work with staff on removing invasive species throughout the trail and help maintain the native growth. Opportunities to also assist with the planting of native trees, shrubs, and prairie plants also occur during the springtime!

The George W. Mead Wildlife Area has an ongoing need for volunteers to assist with educational programming. Volunteers will be responsible for teaching one lesson; the lesson is scripted and all materials will be out and ready upon arrival. Lesson topics include survival strategies, nature hikes, foraging, birding, orienteering, fly tying, and much more. Most lessons are taught outdoors. Groups range in ages, from kindergarten to senior. Contact sandra.deroche@wisconsin.gov for more information.

Run the Sanderling Nature Center: • Provide excellent customer service by orienting visitors to the property and local area, disseminating information and materials related to rules and regulations, program schedules, interpretive resources, facilities, and other recreational opportunities • Assist with guest speakers and school group visits • Assist with inventorying activity packs, educational materials, and supplies • Provide minor interior and exterior facility upkeep and maintenance • Manage sales for merchandise, ice, and/or firewood • Assist campers and visitors as needed This position can be filled by an individual, couple, or duo. Full-time hosts work Wednesday through Sunday, open nature center during public hours and additional evening or morning hours as needed (e.g., special programs, school groups*, etc.). Nature center hours are 12:30pm – 4:30pm Monday through Friday, 10:30am – 4:30pm Saturday and Sunday. They will receive a free campsite while they are hosting – at the designated Nature Center Host site which includes water and electric hook-ups. We are looking for either a full calendar month or half month commitment, (i.e., either the first half of the month or the second half of the month) for full-time hosts.
